I think one of the most important thing is to make contact practicing professionals in the industry. It's great and very useful to meet with other designers and sharing our ideas, knowledge with each other. Alumni Event was a fantastic opportunity to practice and continue my personal development in my career.
Today we had an opportunity to meet graduated students who work for companies now. It was an amazing event and was my favourite day of this year so far.
There were 6 ex-students, and I was really interested in one of them due that he works for BDP. I have heard about a lot in this company, it was really useful to listen his expriences how like is it to work for a big organization. Some of them works for design of education & hospitals; also in kitchen designs, and other architect companies.
It was great to hear their opinions, suggestions and experiences over the years.
All of them agreed that drawing is really important. Luckily I don't have problem with sketching quickly so it was good to hear this could be an advantage in any job.
They were also talking about which is the best way to apply for a job and how to behave in interviews. After the formal talk, they showed their real works. It was so good to see the original works for a real-life project!
All in all, it was great to be a part in the Alumni Event and I learnt a lot.
