Well, it will be a long journey to make that portfolio what I planned, but I try to put into it as much effort as I can!

As we have to start to apply for internship, we need to be get done with our portfolio at the latest of end of January. I hope I will finish with everything in time.

In the layout I was struggling between the choose of horizontal or vertical style. At the end, I have chosen the vertical format, I think it's easier to read. I want to make a colourful portfolio, The white and black stuff is just boring for me. I also want to include lots of hand drawings and idea development sketches.

How did I start planning my Portfolio pages?

I went to the internet, and searched other designers portfolios. It was very useful to see how other artist thinks and what they want to highlight. As I don't have too much projects completed yet, I wanted to show each project in 4-5 pages from the very beginning to the final renders.

I had to think about each bits of the projects, what would be important to show, but more importatntly - how I want to show them on the page.

Sometimes it was quite difficult to arrange them in a vertical layout page, but I tried my best and I think I did a good job.

I also thought about the titles - I wanted to highlight them and create nice layouts.

Sketches of my ideas of each layouts:

My favourite project is the Manchester City Apartment Project. I concentrated to highlight its colours, such as yellow and grey. I want to make the pages based on this colours. I like putting big images and using eye-catching fonts.

So let's see the first page of the City House:

I have put the site's 3D map to the background to make the page more interesting. I also designed a logo (top left) for the project, this will be in every page of this project. And there are the floor plans which I make in AutoCad and SketchUp too. I have mixed the two image in Photosop to see the cad straight lines and the SU foors shadows. I like that it's not in the usual way. :)

The next page is about the design process of the house. The project began with an extended analysis of Villa Shodhan. Then I started sketching my ideas and developed the concept.

I put to the page one of my drawing of Villa Shodhan and the square sketches. I stayed with using of yellow, grey and a little black to give a contrast.

I made some extra graphic elements to make the page more interesting such as gaussian blur of the square sketches and its inverted bigger version to the black part.

The following page shows the building areas in a diagram:

I wanted to hihglight the building's areas and their connections by step to step. I spent around 1,5 day to build them in SU and render the layout in PS. I think this page is neccessary of this module.

The following pages are about the sections:

In this page I was more brave using of strong colours. I quite like the red which higlight the levels straigth away. In the section image, I was playing with two SU images, one with showing shadows and the other one with x-ray view. I wanted to show the stairs are behind the walls. I am quite happy with this page. :)

The next page shows the front and back elevations and a street view of the whole building. I also included some written informations of materials and techniques:

I used yellow again to highlight the most important image, the building's street view. I wanted to keep the contrast between the left and righ side of the layout, using of the half-front view on the left side too.

The following 3 pages is about the interior visuals of the house:

I wanted to use different layouts on each portfolio pages to show the visuals. I also included the building x-ray images to the background to make it interesting.

The Portfolio will continue with the Reception Desk module:

I used grey colour to attrack the reader attention straight to the O2 design of the right side of the layout. It was the same process of this module too: I created a little logo about the module, and used similar font types.

The next page is about the process, where I included the very first sketches of my desk ideas:

There was a group exercise when we had to build two reception desk simulations from boxes and other things around the classroom. Then we had to draw them. I quite liked these sketches so I included them in the layout as it was a beginning of the process of the desk. I also included the first desk ideas below the page. I wanted to make a contrast using of dark blue and white on the overall layout. As O2 mainly uses blue and white colours, I thought I will play around this theme. I also included my brainstorm ideas and put my original handwriting to the background.

Below is the Final idea & Construction:

I was playing with grey and blue colours on this page. The original blue colour of the desk and bubble glass wall is much darker but I didn't want to make the page too dark and the main attraction of this layout the Construction elements of the desk. I gave a slightly shadow to the right side to make it more eye-catching.

The next page shows the desk elevations:

I spent quite long time to figure out the way I show the desk elevations. I wanted to make bigger the Back View as it explains the desk elements. I was playing with the brush tool in PS and I left it in the background and also followed the previous page colours. I also drew some lines to the page. I might change this page in the future.

The following page shows the glass wall construction details and the desk sections:

I have used the image colours at the background. I might change the image for a digital drawing about the desk later on. I will see how it will look like. :)

The next page is about the surrounding area of the desk:

Here I gave some informations about the materials & furnitures.

As I currently work on Building Analysis module, I started to putting together the portfolio slides from the Feasibility Report of Ordsall Hall.

I started with my drawing of the building and the fire escapes:

I have used green colour mostly as it represents the fire escapes.

The following page is aboutthe history part which I had to complete:

I quite like this brown and yellow colour together on the layout. I have included my very first illustration which I did with my digital drawing tablet both in the Feasibilty slide and in the backround of the portfolio layout.

The next page is about the Climate study of Ordsall Hall:

I used my illustration again in the background but with a more slightly colour as I didn't want to distract the attention from the actual report slide. I also drew some triangles to make the layout much interesting.

After these pages there will be added the Design concept pages:

These layouts are based on the idea of House Project visuals' layouts. I had to take attention to the images' colours and keep the balance between them. I included all written informations which I used in the original Design Concept document.

There is a project which I can't let go; the nature project. I always have new ideas. This is the third version which I started to make. I kept my original idea, the shell structure. I wanted to keep the look out point idea as well but designing a much modern and better structure then before. The following three pages shows my new idea front exterior view, the design process and the top view & site.

I have used my hand-drawings on all layouts:

In the design of these three pages I was trying to be not that colourful. All of my pages are in strong colours, however I really like the white-black design too. In this last layout I wanted to show the location view. I went to Google Maps and saved River Irwell's area image and took it to PhotoShop. I wanted to make it intersting with the use of overlayed topography image.

At the end of my portfolio I included some of my favourite drawings; life-, sculpture- and architecture drawings:
