Today was a nice opportunity to improve our skills in how to performance well of our presentations. We had a great session with Viv Bell from 'Salford Ask Us' who is a fantastic lecturer.
The way how she talked was excellent and I learnt a lot from her presentation skills. It was really useful as we need to do a presentation for an assessment for the university course, and in the future we need to pitching an idea to a client, during interviews, or for a gallery opening and exhibition of our work.
It was also useful as we have to submit our group presentation this week and I could do a little change before the deadline, based on what I learnt.

She explained what makes a good presentation, plan and structure of a presentation and how to deliver a presentation effectively.
It was an interesting expalanation from Kapterev:
How presentations work:
• Significance creates passion
• Passion attracts attention • Attention leads to action
(Kapterev, 2007)
Keeping simple our slides, such as using less text and more images, using minimal number of colours and fonts and write only key words, not sentences.
This is a very true and effective example for the future:
Type of listener Preference
Doer Likes quotes from authorities
Thinker Likes statistics
Talker Enjoys a story
Guardian Is reassured by positive reviews
Based on this informations I was listened her carefully and I have realized she used all of these preferences! She used quotes from other experts, and told lots of stories about her experiments. I think this is really the best way to perform a presentation.
Presenting tips to use prompt cards or brief notes, vary tone of voice, pause between points and Practice our speech!!
On the day we should check that we have everything we need, wear comfortable, professional clothes, get there early to set up and keep a watch/timer on the desk if possible.
All in all, I really enjoyed her session and I will use all of these techniques and tips in my future presentation!
