WEEK 1 - Upcycling Project
November 2, 2015
Today we have received the instructions of our next small project which theme is related to upcycling. The task is to come up with a concept of a possible upcycling project and present it either by showing a rough model or acting it out using props.
We are in groups of 2, my pair is Asia. We already worked together last year in a group presentation so it was no question that we are going to work together this year again. We get on well with each other and both are a hardworking person.
After the project instructions we went to the library to start with research what exactly is upcycling. Of course I know what it means but we wanted to see some example and idea about it.
By the way, I am not a really good upcycling person but this project raised my attention how amazing is upcycling! Now I regret stuff what I throwed away before. There are numerous opportunity to create amazing things from odds and ends.
I am really happy for this project and from today I always think twice what I throw away. :)
After two hours research, we came up with the topic of lights. Lights are very important and influential elements in designing an interior space.
Here are some great examples in upcycling things to LIGHTS:
I love all of the examples in the gallery but my favourite probably is the egg cartoon which turned into a home decor light. It's fabulous. I was thinking to create something like that. I already bought lots of egg cartoons and a LED strip so I can experiment with it in the following days.
I also have some inspiration to decor my kitchen walls with bottles' caps. I started to collect caps in all colours and sizes to make it happen soon. I asked my friends to keep the caps too and give it to me. Now I feel like I do something for the Earth. :)
