You may have the question:
What is it?
In my last year at The Manchester College I was so engaged with one of my previous project that I wanted to work further with the bones in my final major project. I added another subject to make it more interesting - bridges. The skeleton has a difficult structure and I examined the parallelism between the bones and bridges. They both hold elements together, it is really interesting. To compare my targets with the final results; my final outcome represents the effect what I wanted to create.
The two column's every single elements hold together a massive structure. Without some parts, it could not be able to hold itself. Our body is exactly the same; the skeleton connects us and the animals, so we can function, it holds us together, and without any missing bone, we cannot be a complex structure. Bridges are the same; I feel it like a connection between two areas.
The sculpture is also expressing the surface of bone with modroc on the wire, which was the perfect choice to work.
It reminds me something from the ancient - like ancient skeletons-, but also the feeling that it's still from present. As I am always drawn to colourful things, I wanted to challenge myself by not focusing on colour. It was a bit hard at the beginning, but I learnt how beautiful and elegant colour is the white. I think I reached my targets; my outcome represents a clean, pure and fundamental atmosphere. I also made shadow for the background which makes the effect much interesting.
After the final year's show, I didn't want to throw it away so I took it home. As an interior designer, I always try to find the way how to use old things. :)
Here is the result:
