Hi, Welcome!
I’m Viktoria Dekany, Manchester based second year Interior Architect student and blogger.
If I would have to sum up what I do in one sentence:
I live for my passion and would like to transform people’s lives & make their quality of life better through my design profession.
Art surrounds us every day. It is the clothes that you put on in the morning, the car that you drive, the computer that you are typing on, the restaurant in which you eat, your makeup, the graffiti on the walls, and the house where you live. All of these are the work of designers.
Interior design inspires me. Design is a profession, a calling and an art. To an outside observer, design may seem simple, but when you look closer, it hardly is. Interior design requires precision, instinct, and most importantly, passion.
The most exciting thing about this career is facing new challenges over and over, and not being allowed to follow a pattern. Design solutions to people’s problems is my passion and earning a degree would help me work towards this career.
Interior design is not always about creating a comfortable space. Different spaces have different needs, for example a shopping centre needs to make people lose touch with reality in order to spend money and a prison cell needs to be designed with no potential self harm surfaces.
Creativity, mutual trust with clients, and successful teamwork make up this prospective career. The result is a comfortable space, and a space of which they are proud. Our environment, properties say something about ourselves and are part of our lives.
While I already have some skills and ideas, I know there is a lot to learn and I have the drive and passion to succeed in this field. I see University of Salford as an opportunity for building a foundation, both theoretical and practical, to later become a successful designer.
